Status Rules Summary

(Laws of the Night LARP Rules)

Overview

Each session, every player gets one or more points of Support and Opposition they may publicly give to another player. Your Status goes up (or down) based on how much Support or Opposition you receive, but it takes multiple sessions to see any changes. Each level of Status you have comes with a Moniker: a flavorful descriptor such as honorable or feared. The Prince and their court may be able to bypass these rules to affect your Status directly.

Basics

  • All characters begin at Status 1.
  • Only characters who are accepted in the domain may give Support or Opposition.
  • Each level of Status comes with a Moniker such as Acknowledged, Trustworthy, Honorable, or Feared.
    • Monikers are mostly a matter of flavor: the characters who supported you collectively agree on the Moniker you receive.
    • If someone with a title increases your Status, they assign you the Moniker.
    • The Moniker for Status 1 is always Acknowledged (if you’re a Camarilla member) or Accepted (If you’re a non-Camarilla member)

Giving Support or Opposition

  • Each character can give Support and Opposition equal to their current Status per session.
    • (Example: A character with Status 2 can give 2 Support and 2 Opposition each session.)
  • You may give Support or Opposition to multiple characters, but:
    • You can only give Support to someone of equal or lower Status.
    • You can give Opposition to someone of any Status.
    • You may give only one Support or one Opposition per character per month.
      • Exception: If the target gains or loses a level of Status during the month, you may give to them again.
